If by live manipulation you mean pressing the keys whie the program is recording i think thats the best way (even though i dont really make songs).

i thought you weren't coming back. I first found out about industrial listening to your stuff. I like the new song but i miss the bass

Bass issue acknowledged! I lost my old mastering presets. Also - I am going to be really listening to some good hip-hop in the near future to help perfect my low end. Remarkably enough, bass (and beats) are the hardest thing to master. I do have a great system in my car (two 700 watt AudioBahn 10's) to test out music on in order to tighten the low end. Ironically enough, KMFDM (a fave of mine) has also always consistently been lacking on "tightness" and "clarity" on the low end. It is hard to perfect in this musical genre. Maybe I should get a hold of Dr. Dre. Ha.
